ANYWAYS - that’s beside the point

I thought it would be fun to start a daily astro blog, that I might wake up and drink my coffee and write about the astrology that day and get calibrated. I’ve gotten into the trash-ass habit of doom-scrolling over my coffee in the mornings and it’s NOT AWESOME. To wake up and immediately fill my brain with other peoples’ mental oozings before I’ve even oozed myself, beginning each day inundated with OOZE - it doesn’t feel great.

ANYHOW-

The Scorpio new moon is this morning, it’s an occasion to begin something new! To plant new seeds. For me, Scorpio is my 9th house of publishing, so beginning a blog seems about right. Double points for it being an astrology blog, since the 9th house is also an astrology house, it’s the house of divination, personal beliefs, and disseminating information. Damn, I’m crushing this new moon.

But, I wasn’t always crushing this new moon- I almost didn’t start this blog today. I meant to bring my laptop to bed with me last night so I could wake up and immediately start writing, but I didn’t, forgot my laptop. Instead, I woke up, I scrolled, I failed. “Maybe I’ll start tomorrow”, I thought, “when I can do it right”.

BITCH, WHY?! A Mars-ruled new moon doesn’t wait for shit. Conditions are never perfect, beginning is the hardest part. Just start.

Though there is an astrological explanation for why the day of the new moon is a difficult time to begin something, the luminaries (Sun and moon) are the source of our energy. During a new moon period, the moon is not visible, it does not reflect the sun’s light back to us, we receive less energy, we feel less energetic, our activity levels are reduced… simply, it’s a low-key period. Many astrologers recommend using the days around the new moon to incubate, rest, and brainstorm so that you can be ready to execute once the moon returns. If there is something you’ve been struggling to begin this early week, don’t be too hard on yourself - the time will come. In the case of this week, I anticipate the time will come this Friday with the Mars cazimi, also in Scorpio, our Scorpionic motivations will return with vengeance- and I do mean vengeance…

The Scorpio house of our charts has been going through a major purge for the past ~2 years. We just concluded a grueling eclipse cycle on the Scorpio-Taurus axis, the South Node has been taking its sweet time crawling through Scorpio during this cycle and has been cleaning house. South Node represents ‘decrease’, wherever it is transiting in our chart is where in our lives we will notice a lessening, a thining. Let’s imagine the houses of a chart as literal houses, and the South Node as an interior decorator, when the South Node arrives in a house- they are less than impressed. Everything is dated, it’s old, it’s cluttered and dusty and musty and gross. In order to modernize that house, first everything must go. I guess the south node isn’t really much of an interior designer, you’re the designer, the SN is more like someone you’ve hired to declutter your house who got too carried away and ditched almost everything.

So, our Scorpio houses are feeling very depleted right about now, and the time has finally come to start making them homey and cozy again. This week we breathe new life into the Scorpio house of our charts. We respawn, whether we want to or not. Video games make respawning or regenerating look so easy, but in reality, it’s difficult and it kinda sucks ass.

Aries Rising
